Buying Unpixel: checkout, receipts and taxes

Unpixel is sold directly, not through the Mac App Store. The store behind the checkout page is Dodo Payments, which is why its name is on your receipt and on the email with your license key.

How checkout works

1. Open the pricing section and choose 1 Mac, 2 Macs or 3 Macs. The Buy Unpixel button shows the price for the tier you picked.
2. Click the button. A checkout page run by Dodo Payments opens.
3. Enter your email address, billing details and payment details. Use an email you can reach, because your license key goes there.
4. Check the total, which includes any tax for your country, and pay.
5. You land on Unpixel’s confirmation page. It shows your license key with a Copy button, a Download button for the app and, on a Mac, an Activate in Unpixel button.

Activate in Unpixel opens the app with your key filled in, and you click Activate yourself. Activate your license covers the rest.

Who appears on your receipt

Dodo Payments is the Merchant of Record: it’s the legal seller of each order and handles payment processing, sales tax and VAT, fraud screening and chargebacks on the developer’s behalf. In practice:

• Your receipt and the license email come from Dodo Payments, not from an Unpixel address.
• Your card or bank statement shows the charge as “DODOPAY” or “Dodo Payments”, not Unpixel, according to Dodo’s help page. Keep that in mind before you report a charge you don’t recognize.
• Dodo’s own buyer terms and privacy policy apply to the payment itself, as the Terms of Service explain.
• Unpixel’s developer receives the order details needed to support your license (your name, email, country, the product, the amount, the order ID and the key), never your full card details. The Privacy Policy lists them.

Your license email

The email arrives right after payment, at the address you used at checkout. It contains your key and a short instruction: open Unpixel and paste the key on the Activate screen, or in Settings → License.

If it doesn’t show up within a few minutes:

• Look in spam, junk or promotions folders, and search your mail for “Dodo Payments”.
• Check that the email address you typed at checkout is the one you’re searching.
• Use the key from the confirmation page if it’s still open, or sign in to the customer portal described below.

Keep the email. You need the key again after erasing a Mac or moving to a new one. Lost your license key? lists every way to get it back.

Invoices and taxes

• Prices are listed in US dollars. Tax is added at checkout based on where you are, and you see the total before you pay.
• Invoices are generated by Dodo Payments for every successful payment. Download them from Dodo’s customer portal: enter the email you bought with, and it sends you a sign-in link that’s valid for 24 hours.
• From the app: at the bottom of Settings → License, the line “Lost your key? Need an invoice?” links to the Customer Portal and to Email Support.
• Buying for a business: at checkout, choose Purchasing as a business and enter the business name and its tax ID, such as a VAT or GST number. With a valid tax ID, the invoice shows it along with the business name, and in some countries no tax is charged because a reverse charge applies. Without a tax ID, the invoice is made out to you personally.
• Your order reference is the payment ID on the confirmation page and on the receipt. Mention it whenever you write to support about an order.

Adding more Macs later

A license covers a fixed number of Macs. For more, click Buy Another License in Settings → License. It opens the same checkout, and the new purchase comes with its own key for the extra Macs. Licenses and pricing compares the tiers.
